| Reverse description | Central device consisting of a plain cross pattée in relief, dividing the field into four quadrants, each of which appears to contain a pellet or small circular element, though these are only partially legible due to the heavily worn and encrusted surface. The cross is bold and deeply struck, occupying most of the available field. No legend surrounds the design, consistent with the anonymous, minimalist style of Goa mint bazaruco coinage of the mid-to-late sixteenth century. The flan edges are irregular, reflecting the hand-hammered manufacture typical of this issue. |
