| Reverse description | The denomination and date are displayed in three lines within a finely engraved laurel wreath tied at the base with a bow. The numeral '1' appears on the first line, 'BATZEN' on the second, and the date '1787' on the third, with a small stop before the numerals of the date. The wreath is composed of symmetrical olive branches with detailed leaf work, and the overall design is clean and well-centered within a plain field. |

| Additional information |
Franz Joseph Sigismund von Roggenbach served as Prince-Bishop of Basel for only a single year, 1787, before the see was swept into the upheavals that would ultimately extinguish it as a temporal power — the French Revolution abolished the Bishopric of Basel as a sovereign entity in 1792. This coin is effectively the entire coinage output of his episcopate.
HMZ 2#155a distinguishes this from related billon issues of the see, where minor die variations between Prince-Bishops' reigns are the primary collecting differentiator.
