Additional information

Königstein was a small Rhenish county that ceased to exist entirely in 1535 when it passed by inheritance to the Counts of Stolberg. The batzen issues struck under Eberhard IV in the decade before that extinction represent the final assertion of independent minting rights by the Königstein line — a right that lapsed with the county itself.
