Obverse description Central shield bearing the quartered arms of the Principality of Neuchâtel, featuring an eagle displayed in the upper quarter and ermine-strewn fields in the lower quarters, all within an ornate oval cartouche surmounted by a princely crown with elaborate floral finials. The arms are enclosed within a decorative wreath border. The surrounding circular legend reads ALEXANDRE PRINCE & DUC DE NEUCHAT:, abbreviated at the base of the coin.

Obverse lettering ALEXANDRE PRINCE & DUC DE NEUCHAT:
Reverse description Denomination expressed as a Roman numeral I above the inscription BATZ, centered within an open wreath composed of laurel on the left and oak on the right, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The date 1809 appears in the exergue beneath the wreath. The circular legend PRINCIPAUTE DE NEUCHATEL runs along the outer border, interrupted at the base by the date.
