The entire design is enclosed within a prominent rope- or bead-decorated outer border characteristic of Portuguese colonial calin coinage. The striking is typical of hammered production, resulting in an irregularly shaped planchet with uneven surfaces and pronounced corrosion consistent with the tin-lead alloy composition. |
