| Beschrijving voorzijde | A heraldic eagle displayed in the field, its head turned sharply to the right in profile. A cross motif appears to the right of the eagle's head, while the uncial letter 'D' — an initial for the issuing prince Dan I — occupies the left field. The design is rendered in a bold, primitive hammered style characteristic of early Wallachian coinage. |

Dan I ruled Wallachia for a turbulent few years in the 1380s, his reign interrupted by the rival claims of his cousin Mircea — later called "the Elder" — whose eventual consolidation of power would define the principality for decades. This tiny silver issue belongs to that contested period, when two branches of the Basarab dynasty were actively fighting over the throne. Dan I was ultimately killed in battle against Mircea around 1386.
