| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Panama is depicted centrally, featuring a quartered shield surmounted by an eagle with outstretched wings, flanked by olive and oak branches in the lower field. The shield's quarters display crossed swords and rifle, a shovel and pickaxe, a cornucopia, and a winged wheel, with the motto banner PRO MVNDI BENEFICIO arching above the shield. Nine stars appear in an arc above the eagle, and two additional stars flank the shield at mid-field. The legend REPVBLICA - DE - PANAMA curves along the upper periphery in bold Latin letters, with the date 1986 positioned in the lower exergue. |

| Reverse description | A left-facing armored bust of Vasco Nunez de Balboa, the Spanish conquistador and explorer, is portrayed in high relief occupying the majority of the field. He wears an ornately decorated morion-style helmet with intricate scrollwork and a ruff collar, beneath which articulated pauldrons of plate armor are visible. Small sprigs of laurel or oak flank the lower portion of the bust on either side of the field. The legend - VN - BALBOA - curves along the upper periphery in widely spaced Latin capital letters. |
