| Reverse description | A crowned heraldic shield of the Este dynasty occupies the central field, supported by decorative foliate or scroll elements on either side, consistent with late 15th-century Italian civic heraldry. A cross divides or underlies the shield device, adding structural symmetry to the composition. The surrounding Latin legend references the ancient Roman heritage of Reggio Emilia. The overall design is boldly struck but shows the characteristic irregularity of hammered copper coinage of the Duchy. |
