Additional information

Nicolò Tron's dogeship (1471–1473) was one of the more financially aggressive in Venetian history — he pushed through the first doge-named gold coinage, the lira tron, over considerable Senate resistance. The copper issues for the terraferma cities, including Bergamo, were part of a broader rationalisation of subsidiary coinage in the conquered Lombard territories following Venice's consolidation of the region after 1428. Bergamo had its own minting traditions well before Venetian rule, and the transition to Venetian-type civic coppers was not immediate.

MIR LOM#22 is among the scarcer Bergamo attributions in the series.
