| Obverse description | Two facing busts of princes in high relief at center, depicted in Renaissance style with draped shoulders and period headwear, facing one another. Four small shields of arms are distributed around and between the busts, dividing the titles of the four ruling princes. The circular Latin legend runs along the outer periphery of the coin, naming the four co-rulers: Wolfgang, John, George, and Joachim. The overall composition is typical of the multi-prince Ausbeutethaler coinage of the Anhalt principality. |

The date 1539 appears divided by the lower portion of the uppermost shield of arms. The legend identifies this as a new coin of the Principality of Anhalt. |
