| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crude barbarous imitation of a laureate bust of Septimius Severus facing left, rendered in a simplified, provincial style characteristic of Germanic die-cutters. The portrait retains the general outline of the imperial prototype — including the draped and cuirassed bust — but with markedly coarser execution and distorted facial features. A partial, garbled legend surrounds the bust in the field, derived from a Latin prototype but rendered inaccurately by an engraver unfamiliar with the script. A suspension hole is pierced at the top, indicating use as a pendant or personal ornament. The flan is irregular and slightly convex. |
