| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate, draped bust of an uncertain ruler facing right, rendered in a barbarous imitative style characteristic of Germanic tribal coinage. The portrait, while clearly derivative of contemporary Roman imperial prototypes, displays crude workmanship in the facial features and drapery folds. A circular border of dots or beading frames the effigy. The surrounding field bears a degenerate Latin legend composed of largely meaningless or garbled letter forms, reflecting the die-cutter's limited literacy. A suspension hole is visible near the top of the flan, suggesting the piece was worn as a personal ornament or prestige object. |
