| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field bears a bold equal-armed cross dividing the die into four quadrants, each containing a numeral or decorative element associated with the date. The date numerals 1778 are distributed across the four quadrants of the cross, rendered in a rough, hand-engraved style consistent with the primitive production methods of the Diu colonial mint. The surrounding field is plain, enclosed within a beaded or rope inner border. The flan is irregular with a scalloped edge, and the overall strike is characteristic of hammered copper colonial issues. Numerous die varieties exist, with documented variations in numeral forms and cross size. |
