| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a bold, multi-line Shi'a Islamic profession of faith in naskh script, distributed across three horizontal registers within the central field. The Shahada is followed by the declaration of Ali ibn Abi Talib as the Wali Allah, constituting the distinctively Twelver Shi'a formula adopted by the Safavid dynasty from its earliest coinage. The inscription is deeply struck in high relief, with slight crowding of the letterforms against the compact, irregular flan. A simple linear border frames the inscribed field, and no mint name or regnal date appears on this face. The plain gold field surrounding the legend retains the uneven surface texture typical of hammered coinage of the period. |
