| Obverse description | The obverse displays multiple lines of bold Nastaliq calligraphy in Arabic script filling the entire field, arranged within an oval cartouche framed by a raised border. The central legend references the ruling authority of Brijis Qadr, King of Awadh, with the royal title rendered in deeply incused flowing script. A date in abjad or Eastern Arabic numerals appears in the lower register, below the main cartouche dividing line. Diamond-shaped ornamental punctuation marks are interspersed between lines of text as decorative separators. The overall style is consistent with late Mughal-derived coinage practice employed at provincial mints during the turbulent period of 1857–1858. |
