| Obverse description | The obverse presents the Shahada in bold Arabic calligraphy divided across the field by a horizontal rule, with the first part of the Islamic profession of faith occupying the upper register and the second part the lower. The legend reads 'La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah' (There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), with the AH date 1139 incorporated into the lower field. The script is rendered in a robust, slightly angular Naskh style characteristic of Hotak-era coinage struck at Isfahan. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border following the irregular hammered flan, with no figural imagery, consistent with Islamic numismatic tradition. |
