The poetic legend extols the prestige of the Ashrafi coinage and references the name of Ashraf Hotaki, whose title confers honor upon the coin as the sun confers light. The mint name 'Zarb Isfahan' (struck at Isfahan) appears in the lower register, identifying the place of issue. The calligraphy is executed in a fluid Nasta'liq style with ornamental flourishes typical of Safavid-influenced Hotak coinage. The design fills the irregular flan without a formal border, with scattered floral or pellet ornaments visible in the field. |
