| Obverse description | The obverse field is occupied entirely by a multi-line Arabic legend executed in bold Nasta'liq calligraphy, arranged in horizontal registers across the coin's surface. The inscription, characteristic of Durrani dynastic coinage, proclaims the royal titles and epithets of Ahmad Shah Durrani, founder of the Afghan empire. The legends are enclosed within a plain linear border that follows the irregular flan, with decorative dotted ornaments separating the lines of text. The hammered flan imparts a slightly uneven surface, typical of early Durrani gold coinage. |
