Opmerkingen

Bajana was a minor thikana-level state in the Kathiawar Agency — technically a dependent estate rather than a fully recognized princely state, which makes its issuance of cash coupons during the war years administratively irregular by any standard reading of British Indian policy. These small-denomination emergency pieces were produced locally to address acute coin shortages, a problem that afflicted dozens of Kathiawar states simultaneously as wartime metal demands stripped circulation of small change.

The S-prefix in the Pick reference places this squarely in the regional/local issues category. Documentation on Bajana's coupon series remains thin, and surviving examples are rarely encountered in the trade.
