Opmerkingen

Military club chits of this type were issued informally by officers' mess and club organizations at USAAF installations during the war years — essentially internal scrip redeemable only at the issuing club, with no legal tender status and no Treasury oversight. The 3rd Air Depot Group was a maintenance and supply unit responsible for aircraft overhaul and repair, operating across multiple theaters. Club chits from depot-level units are considerably scarcer than those from combat groups, simply because depot personnel were fewer and the notes saw harder, greasier hands.

The anna denomination places this almost certainly in the China-Burma-India theater, where Indian currency conventions influenced local pricing at canteens and messes.
