Above the central numeral, the denomination is inscribed in Urdu ('يك انه') and in Devanagari script, while 'ONE' appears to the right and 'ANNA' arches below across the lower field. The entire central composition is encircled by a wreath of laurel and oak leaves tied at the base, all contained within the characteristic eight-scallop border. |

Pakistan's anna coinage had a short window of relevance — the anna itself was abolished when Pakistan decimalized in 1961, making this among the final anna-denominated issues ever struck. The series ran through the last years of the pre-Ayub civilian government and into the early martial law period following the 1958 coup, meaning pieces from the final year of issue were produced under a government that had suspended the constitution entirely.
