| Obverse description | Central device comprising a crescent moon with points directed upward, surmounted by a five-pointed star, above an ornate tughra (calligraphic monogram) rendered in the Ottoman-inspired style adopted for early Pakistani coinage. The tughra occupies the lower two-thirds of the field and is executed in flowing, interlaced Arabic script. The circular legend reads 'GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN' in Latin characters along the upper periphery, with the Urdu equivalent 'حكومت پاكستان' arching along the lower periphery, all contained within the scalloped border of the flan. |

| Reverse description | Central denomination numeral '1' in large Arabic-Indic script occupies the field, flanked on either side by the date split as '19' to the left and '53' to the right in Latin numerals. Above the central numeral, the denomination is inscribed in Urdu ('يك انه') and in Devanagari script, while 'ONE' appears to the right and 'ANNA' arches below across the lower field. Pakistan's anna coinage had a short window of relevance — the anna itself was abolished when Pakistan decimalized in 1961, making this among the final anna-denominated issues ever struck. The series ran through the last years of the pre-Ayub civilian government and into the early martial law period following the 1958 coup, meaning pieces from the final year of issue were produced under a government that had suspended the constitution entirely.
