Reverse description A large sailing vessel depicted in profile occupies the central field, its hull rendered with stylised waves below; at the centre of the ship a large cross-fourchee serves as the mast, against which rests a quartered royal shield bearing the arms of England and France. The shield is surmounted by a crown. A continuous Latin redemptive legend in uncial script encircles the design within a beaded border, the whole composition typical of the Tudor Angel reverse type.
