Obverse description Central field displaying the quartered heraldic shield of the County of Berg, set within a beaded inner circle and framed by an octafoil border. The shield exhibits the characteristic diagonal banded pattern of Berg in the upper quarters and the lion passant in the lower quarters. A Gothic uncial legend encircles the entire design between the octafoil and the irregular toothed outer rim. The overall style is characteristic of late 14th-century Rhenish hammered silver coinage.
