Obverse description Interlaced crowned monogram 'CL' in the field, with the date split to either side of the monogram — the first two digits of the year to the left and the last two digits to the right. The crown above the cipher is rendered in relief with detailed tines. The overall design is bold and centrally composed, characteristic of late 17th-century German minor coinage.

Reverse description Crowned shield bearing the rampant lion of Hesse, facing left with forepaw raised, set within a plain shield. A mural or princely crown surmounts the shield.
