Obverse description Central field features a large ornate crowned cursive 'C' monogram, the cypher of Elector Charles (Karl Ludwig or Karl II), with the date 1681 positioned above the crown flanking the monogram. The legend SVSTENTANTE DEO (meaning 'With God sustaining') runs around the periphery in Latin capital letters, separated by small decorative stops. A beaded inner border frames the central device.

Reverse description Central field depicts the rampant Palatinate lion passant, rendered in fine detail with flowing mane, facing left within a decorative wreath or foliate border composed of laurel or olive branches. The lion, the heraldic symbol of the Rhenish Palatinate, occupies the majority of the flan. No peripheral legend is present; the design is entirely contained within the decorative inner border.
