Obverse description Quartered royal arms of Castile-León, Aragon, Austria, Burgundy, Brabant, and Flanders, surmounted by an ornate crown and encircled by the collar and pendant jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The escutcheon is rendered in fine hammered relief with clearly delineated heraldic quarters. The surrounding legend in Latin reads ALBERTVS ET ELISABET D G, identifying the joint sovereigns Albert and Isabella as rulers by divine grace. The field exhibits the characteristic irregular flan typical of hammered gold coinage of the early seventeenth century.
