Obverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold relief, surrounded by a beaded border. The inscription reads the name and titles of the issuing ruler, executed in the cursive Arabic script typical of Anatolian beyliks of the early 15th century. The legends are arranged in stacked horizontal lines within the circular field, with individual letter forms rendered in high relief against a flat flan. The irregular hammered flan imparts slight asymmetry to the overall design.

Additional information

Mustafa b. Aydin ruled the Beylik of Aydin for less than two years before the Ottomans under Murad II extinguished the dynasty entirely in 1426, absorbing its Aegean territories into the expanding sultanate. This akce is one of the final issues of an independent Aydinid mint — the beylik had already been suppressed once by Mehmed I and was only briefly reconstituted before its permanent end.
