| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is dominated by a large crescent opening downward, enclosing a central circular cartouche containing the accession date AH 1367 above multi-line Arabic religious and royal titulature. The field surrounding the cartouche is filled with further Arabic inscriptions identifying the ruler Ahmad ibn Yahya Hamid ad-Din and his titles as Commander of the Faithful and Nasir ad-Din. A second, larger crescent curves across the lower portion of the field, framing the composition. The entire design is executed in bold relief against a flat field, within a plain raised rim. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a central circular cartouche divided by a horizontal line, bearing the Shahada in two parts: the upper half reads 'There is no god but God' and the lower half reads 'Muhammad is the Messenger of God', all in bold Arabic script. Surrounding this central medallion, a wide annular field contains multi-line Arabic legends naming the Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen, the denomination (One Ahmadi Riyal), and the mint formula indicating striking at the capital Sana'a, together with the Hijri mint date 1375. The legends fill the field in a dense, calligraphic arrangement. A finely toothed border runs along the inner edge of the raised rim. |
