Obverse description Central field bearing a two-line Arabic calligraphic inscription reading 'al-Sultan Nadir' (The Sultan Nadir), executed in bold naskh script within a plain inner border. The inscription is enclosed by a raised beaded outer border running the full circumference of the flan. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, characteristic of hammered silver coinage of the period. The field surrounding the legend is flat and unadorned.
