Obverse description The obverse displays a multi-line royal Persian legend in elegant Nasta'liq script, filling the entire field and reading that Tahmasp II struck the sahebqerani coin throughout the world by the grace of God. The mint name Tabriz and the AH regnal year appear in the lower register of the legend. The inscription is arranged in three or four horizontal bands across the flan, with the text flowing in a calligraphic style characteristic of late Safavid hammered coinage. The entire design is enclosed within a border of raised pellets arranged around the circumference of the irregularly shaped flan.
