| Reverse description | Hammered reverse bearing the royal piety formula and mint data in nasta'liq Arabic script arranged in three registers within a beaded border. The central field displays the phrase 'Husayn kalb-i astan-i Ali' (Husayn, servant of the threshold of Ali), identifying the issuing ruler Shah Sultan Husayn. The lower register records the mint name 'Zarb Mashhad' (struck at Mashhad) and the AH regnal date 1131, corresponding to 1719 CE. The flan is irregular in shape and the strike is slightly uneven, consistent with the hammered production methods of the late Safavid period. |
