| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field bears the Shi'ah Kalimah (profession of faith) in three lines of bold thuluth script: 'La ilaha illa Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah / Ali wali Allah' (There is no god but God / Muhammad is the Messenger of God / Ali is the Friend of God). Encircling the central legend, the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'ism are arranged in a continuous border around the periphery of the coin, a hallmark of Safavid religious iconography on coinage. The overall composition densely fills the flan, with the layered inscriptions rendered in the angular, monumental thuluth style typical of Safavid silver issues. |
