| Obverse description | Central field bears the Shi'a Kalima in three lines of flowing nastaliq script, reading 'La ilaha ill-Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah / Ali wali Allah' (There is no god but God / Muhammad is the messenger of God / Ali is the friend of God). The inscription is rendered in bold relief against a plain field, typical of Safavid hammered coinage. The legends fill the flan to its edges, with the irregular flan characteristic of hand-struck Safavid silver. |
