Obverse description Central field bears the Kalima (Islamic declaration of faith) in three lines of bold Persian-Naskh script: the Shahada affirming the oneness of God, the prophethood of Muhammad, and the sainthood of Ali. The inscription is executed in a bold, flowing calligraphic style characteristic of Zand-period hammered coinage. A dotted border frames the lower portion of the design, with the irregular flan typical of hand-struck production of this era.
