Additional information

Ibrahim Khan Afshar governed Georgia as an Iranian appointee following Nader Shah's death in 1747, a moment of imperial fragmentation that briefly opened space for regional mints to operate with considerable autonomy. The Tiflis mint — one of the few Caucasian facilities striking silver in the Afsharid name — issued coins under Ibrahim before Russian and Ottoman pressures reshaped the region entirely within a generation. Album 2766 distinguishes this as Type A, a classification tied to die arrangement rather than any change in issuing authority.
