| Opis awersu | The obverse bears a four-line Persian legend in elegant Nasta'liq calligraphic script, divided by horizontal ruled lines into three registers and surrounded by a beaded border. The uppermost register contains the opening hemistich of the royal mint verse, the central band bears the dynastic title and royal epithet identifying the ruler as Abbas III, shadow of God and lord of the auspicious conjunction, and the lowest register carries the mint name Esfahan (Isfahan) together with the regnal year 1145 AH. The field exhibits the characteristic Safavid hammered fabric with natural flow lines and uneven flan surfaces typical of the Isfahan workshop. |
