| Obverse description | Three-line Persian legend in nastaliq script occupies the central field of this hammered silver flan. The first line reads 'بنده شاه ولایت' (Servant of the Shah of the Realm), the second line contains the royal name 'عباس' (Abbas), and the third line bears the mint name 'تفليس' (Tiflis). The AH date (1052 or 1053) appears in either the second or third line depending on the die variety. The irregular flan edges are characteristic of Safavid hammered coinage of this period. |
