| Obverse description | Densely packed calligraphic Persian inscription filling the entire coin field, executed in elegant Nasta'liq script with interlocking letterforms characteristic of Safavid numismatic art. The legend reads 'Banda-ye Shah-e Velayat Abbas, Zarb Yazd' (Servant of the King of Sainthood Abbas, struck at Yazd), identifying both the ruler and the mint. The text is arranged in multiple registers across the flan, with the mint name 'Yazd' appearing in the lower field. The irregular flan edge, typical of hammered Safavid coinage, is visible around the circumference. The relief is bold with fine detail in the calligraphic strokes. |
