Reverse description The central field displays the distinctive East India Company cipher: the letters E, V, I, and C arranged in the four quarters of a heart-shaped cartouche, overlaid with two crossed swords or batons forming an X pattern, surmounted by a bold numeral 4 with a horizontal bar through its stem. The design is enclosed within a raised inner circle. The circular legend UNITED EAST INDIA COMPANY runs along the outer border, with the date 1797 appearing in the lower exergue. The overall composition is clean and emblematic, typical of the precision striking associated with the Soho Mint.
