| Reverse description | Central field displays the Islamic declaration of faith 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but God) in bold Arabic calligraphy within a circular inner border, with the AH mint date (e.g. 1346) inscribed below. The outer margin bears the mint legend 'Duriba bi-San'a' (Struck in Sana'a) along with the denomination indication 'Thumn 'Ashr' (one-eighth of a tenth, i.e. 1/80 Riyal). A variable number of small six-pointed stars are distributed around the outer field, the quantity differing according to variety. The reverse legend and star arrangement are subject to numerous die varieties as documented in the Yeoman catalogue. |
