Obverse description Central field bears the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) in bold Arabic calligraphy within a circular inner border. The name and titles of Imam Yahya ibn Muhammad, Commander of the Faithful and Mutawakkil upon God, Lord of the Worlds, are inscribed in the surrounding legend along with the accession date AH 1322. A variable number of small six-pointed stars (between one and four, depending on variety) are distributed in the outer field. The overall design is characteristic of the hand-struck Islamic coinage tradition, with slight irregularities in flan shape and strike alignment.
