Reverse description Central oval cartouche containing the Shahada (Islamic declaration of faith) in bold Arabic calligraphy: 'لا إله إلا الله' (There is no god but God). Below the cartouche, the AH mint date ١٣٧٦ is inscribed. The cartouche is enclosed within a crescent-shaped border. Surrounding the central device, a circular legend in Arabic identifies the mint as Sana'a ('ضرب بصنعا') and gives the denomination 'ثمن عشر' (one-eighth of a tenth, i.e. 1/80 riyal), with the word 'سنة' (year) also present. Eight six-pointed stars are evenly distributed around the outer border of the coin, a characteristic feature of this series.
