Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Duke Ulrich of Württemberg facing right, depicted in Renaissance style with elaborately curled hair and armored shoulders with a turned collar. The portrait is rendered in high relief within an inner beaded circle, conveying the influence of Italian Renaissance portraiture on South German coinage of the early sixteenth century. The surrounding marginal legend reads VLRICVS DVX WIRTEMB, identifying the issuer as Duke Ulrich of Württemberg, with the text distributed around the full circumference of the coin.
