⅛ Thaler - George III

Liegnitz-Brieg was among the last Silesian Piast duchies still operating with meaningful autonomy under Habsburg suzerainty, and by 1664 that autonomy was running out. The line would die with Georg Wilhelm in 1675, reverting the duchy directly to Vienna. Coinage from this final decade carries the quiet urgency of a dynasty aware of its own expiration — local minting rights were exercised aggressively in these years, producing a wider range of denominations than the duchy's actual economic weight would otherwise justify.

The eighth-thaler denomination was uncommon in Silesian output generally, making FuS#1862 a minor rarity within an already regionalized series.
