Reverse description Four crowned heraldic shields arranged in cruciform pattern around a central radiating sun, representing the arms of Great Britain, Brunswick, Lüneburg, and Ireland respectively. The date 1720 is divided within the upper portion of the peripheral legend, which reads S.R.I.A.T.ET.EL. BR.ET.L.DUX. in Latin, circling the design within a toothed border. The central sunburst motif displays fine engraving typical of early eighteenth-century German minting practice.
