附加信息	Duke August the Younger of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel died in March 1666 at the age of 88, an extraordinary lifespan for the period. He had ruled the principality since 1635 and was widely regarded as one of the most learned rulers in the Holy Roman Empire — his personal library at Wolfenbüttel, which he spent decades assembling, eventually became the Herzog August Bibliothek, still one of the most significant early modern manuscript collections in existence. Death memorial coinages were a well-established tradition among German territorial princes, and Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel issued several denominations on August's passing. The 1/8 Thaler represents the smaller end of that commemorative range.
