| 背面描述 | The reverse bears a two-line inscription reading 'NEDERL INDIE' in bold raised lettering across the upper portion of the field, identifying the issuing colonial territory of the Netherlands East Indies. Below this, the four-digit date is prominently struck in the center of the field. The mintmaster's initial 'S' appears at the base of the coin beneath the date, serving as the privy mark for the Utrecht Mint. The field is otherwise plain, with no additional decorative elements, giving the design a stark, utilitarian character befitting a minor colonial circulation piece. |

Willem I authorized the Netherlands East Indies coinage series in the early 1820s as part of a broader rationalization of colonial monetary administration following the restoration of Dutch control over Java after the Napoleonic interregnum. The 1/8 stuiver was the smallest denomination in that system, intended to facilitate petty trade in local markets where fractional values mattered enormously. Production ran across both the Utrecht and Harderwijk mints, with attribution between the two facilities remaining a source of ongoing collector debate for this type.
