| 裏面の説明 | The crowned Norwegian lion rampant, holding a battle-axe, displayed within a crowned oval shield superimposed at the centre of a cross. The shield is adorned with a royal crown above and is surrounded by a Latin legend continuing the king's titles, with the date 1665 incorporated into the legend. A beaded inner circle frames the entire composition, consistent with the obverse border treatment. |

Frederik III's reign saw Norway administratively absorbed into a tighter Danish autocracy following the 1660 constitutional revolution, which stripped the Danish nobility of hereditary privilege and concentrated fiscal authority in the crown. Norwegian silver coinage of this period was partly funded by output from the Kongsberg mines, which had been producing since 1623 and by the 1660s were approaching peak early output. The 1/8 speciedaler denomination itself was short-lived — the fractional specie series was largely abandoned within a generation as the monetary system was rationalized under Christian V.
