Alderney, the smallest of the inhabited Channel Islands, issues coins under a royal warrant but has no independent monetary authority — pieces like this circulate as legal tender at face value while functioning entirely as collectibles. The Platinum Jubilee series was authorized to mark Elizabeth II's 70 years on the throne, the longest reign in British history. She died in September 2022, months after this coin entered production.
