| 背面描述 | A dynamic equestrian scene depicting Saint George, armoured and mounted on a rearing horse, driving a lance downward into a vanquished dragon coiled beneath the horse's hooves, in the tradition of the celebrated Benedetto Pistrucci design first introduced on the British sovereign of 1821. The composition is rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail throughout the figures and the dragon's scaled body. The legend GEORGE & DRAGON arcs along the upper left periphery, with the denomination 1/8 SOVEREIGN completing the arc at upper right. The initials AC appear discreetly in the lower field, attributing the reverse design to engraver Anthony Dufort. A beaded inner border frames the entire composition. |
